What is a Board of Trustees?

Every charity has one and this is the group of people who take overall responsibility for a charity’s work. This group should meet regularly to do the things listed below.

So, for Carefree, the trustees have to make sure that it’s well run and provides what it said it was going to offer to the young people who are leaving care.

The trustees have to check that Carefree has spent the money wisely that it has been given and that all the staff members and any volunteers are clear about what they should do in their jobs.

There should be a plan which Carefree is working to, so that everyone knows what are the most important services to keep up and develop both for now and over the next few years.

Staff members can come to the Board meetings and so can young people and we’d be really pleased to see you.
