What do you do at Carefree?
I’m the Chief Executive Officer
What do you like about working at Carefree?
I love this job. I have been working with Carefree since we began, first as a youth worker, then as manager and now as CEO. I love the variety, no day is the same. I still do some work with young people and I really enjoy that, I like the way that Carefree promotes fairness and friendship for care experienced young people and I am rather fond of an Excel Spreadsheet.
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
I’m a qualified youth worker and teacher with a couple of management qualifications as well. I’ve really valued developing my understanding of how the difficult things that happen to people can affect how they feel and behave, and how relationships and a sense of belonging can make that better. I used to work as a teacher, as the manager of a young women’s centre and, once upon a time, as a gardener. I was also a foster carer for a long time and I’m now an adoptive parent.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Walking, with or without my dog, reading, cooking, going to festivals, theatre and discussing things!
