What do you do at Carefree?
Lead youth work coordinator – (engagement, participation and transition into adulthood.)
I work with young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who are care experienced. I oversee lots of different group work and try to listen to what young people need and respond to this.
What do you like about working at Carefree?
I love working at Carefree as I am surrounded by amazing young people, some I have known for 10 years! We have a strong team, as well as creative and fun and we strive to improve and learn.
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
I qualified as a Youth worker in 2002 and completed my BA(hons) in Youth and Community Studies. I then worked with homeless young people in hostels as a Senior support worker in Cardiff before working as a Youth work project lead for Swansea County Council for a number of years.
I returned to Cornwall in 2011 and have worked in lots of different Youth worker roles for Carefree since then. Recently I have completed my level 5 diploma as a Trauma Informed Practitioner.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love my dog, swimming in the sea, and spending time with my lovely family.
