What do you do at Carefree?

I am sessional youth worker at Carefree.

What do you like about working at Carefree?

I love working for an organisation that feels like a large family. I love that Carefree gives amazing opportunities to young people who are living with foster families, who are  care experienced and now, also with young people who are adopted.

Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?

I have been a youth worker since the 1980s. I began as a volunteer at Camborne youth centre, and loved working with young people, so went to college and did a degree in youth and community studies. I have worked across Cornwall doing a wide variety of work including g running Newquay Youth Centre for a decade, running an outreach project in Padstow for three years and working as a youth worker attached to a social work team.

I now work part-time.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When I’m not at work, I love to read, visit friends, work on my allotment and occasionally can be found swimming or body boarding in the sea. I absolutely love animals too. Cats and foxes being two favourites.
