What do you do at Carefree?
I am a Support Youth Worker and I help to facilitate and organise groups, activity days and residentials run by Carefree.
What do you like about working at Carefree?
I really love getting to build positive relationships with our young people and see their growth throughout their time with us. The staff and workplace are really caring and supportive.
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
My work experience is quite varied including working at a restaurant where I picked up a lot of my social skills and understanding around fine dining. I’ve worked as a Learning Support Assistant at a secondary school where I developed a good understanding around trauma informed practice and additional needs in young people. I also have a degree in photography which has been great when working with young people and using photography as a way of expression and creativity.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I am a keen musician and often play my guitar to wind down. I love photography and sometimes carry around a film camera to snapshot little things I see out and about. I find running a good release for me and have taken part in different races such as the Bristol Half Marathon. And when I’m feeling a bit lazy, I’ll cook a nice meal and watch a sitcom!
