What do you do at Carefree?
I am working at Carefree until March 2025 on an NHS project, Care2Career. This project is specifically focused on supporting young care leavers into training, education or employment that links to health and social care.
What do you like about working at Carefree?
I really like the team, they have all been very friendly and supportive. I have also enjoyed how varied my role is, I get to meet lots of people.
Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?
I originally trained in the arts and worked professionally as a performer for around 15 years, then as a teacher I specialised in voice and dance so have worked across the education system specialising in SEN work. I have also worked as a director and producer on large scale outdoor productions, pulling together large teams of practitioners and working alongside communities. Qualified up to degree level with a Level 6 extended teaching diploma. Covid made a big impact on various arts council projects/ access to space I had. I then transitioned over to Project Management in the NHS/ICB. I have worked alongside Maternity Services for 4 years for Kernow Maternity & Neonatal Voices Partnerships, developing services with a focus on service user experience. My project with Carefree draws upon my experience with education, my delight with working with young people, and my linkage with working across the system.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I perform with a jazz band which I love. I run an inclusive Youth Theatre, we put on a musical every year. I have two dogs, so enjoy a good stomp in the woods or on the beach. I also love to knit, play piano, guitar and love plants and painting!
