What do you do at Carefree?

I am the Carefree Education and Programmes Manager.   The main focus of my work is with a team of brilliant Careers Advisers who work on several projects– Skills Your Way, Compass and Year 11 work in schools.  We support young people with professional careers advice and guidance and help them make decisions about what to do next.  I also occasionally help out with some of the Youth Work activities such as the original programme and pop up or drop in sessions which I really enjoy.

What do you like about working at Carefree?

It is a fantastic team to work with and I love having the opportunity of doing some direct face to face work with young people.

Can you say a bit about your past experience and qualifications?

I have worked in a variety of jobs from promotions work, youth work, retail, civil service, teaching assistant and personal adviser before finally taking up the opportunity to train as a Career Adviser after moving to Cornwall.   I enjoy training on the job and have several NVQs and other qualifications.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Outside of work I really enjoy being out in nature and the countryside with my husband. I love the peace and quiet.   I enjoy going to Wales to see ospreys and red kites which are birds that were almost extinct previously.  My picture is me on a Welsh hillside in October in the rain watching red kites soar overhead.

Also enjoy riding my bike and have recently got an electric bike which helps with the Cornish hills.

I love animals especially my dog and I like taking him for walks even though he is very naughty.

I travel to Liverpool fairly regularly visiting my family who live in the area and spending time with my 7 year old grandson who I adore.
